VERTEX is a two-day symposium designed to connect nontraditional companies with real Army problems in a more direct and usable way than traditional acquisition environments allow.
Rather than focusing on presentations alone, VERTEX is structured around interaction. It brings together industry, Soldiers, program offices, and subject matter experts to explore specific use cases and understand where capabilities might fit. Breakout sessions allow for more focused conversations, where participants can hear directly from the people writing requirements and the people who would ultimately use the technology.
My Role
I supported the following events:
VERTEX | Armored Formations: Dec 12 -13, 2023
VERTEX | Contested Logistics: Feb 13-14, 2024
VERTEX | Air-Ground Littoral: July 16-17, 2024
VERTEX | Tactical Information and Network: Nov 19-20, 2024
VERTEX | Advanced Autonomy: Feb 11-13, 2025
VERTEX | Launched Effects: July 22-23, 2025
VERTEX | Allies and Partners: cancelled
Program Planning and Execution
I led the planning and execution framework across multiple VERTEX events, treating each iteration as a structured program rather than a standalone event. This included building the sprint plan, defining the execution roadmap, and coordinating timelines across stakeholders to ensure milestones were delivered on time. Weekly meetings were used to track progress, align priorities, and maintain momentum across teams, while leaving room to adjust based on evolving requirements.
Content Design and Translation
A core part of my role was translating military vignettes and use cases into language that industry could understand and engage with quickly. This meant taking complex, often highly contextual problem sets and turning them into clear, accessible narratives without losing what actually mattered, and without the ability to access any AI tools.
We developed event-specific descriptions that created a shared baseline for industry participants, allowing them to understand Army needs even with limited prior context. The goal was not to simplify the work, but to make it usable—so conversations could start at a more informed level.
Marketing and Campaign Execution
I created and managed marketing content to support each VERTEX event, including email campaigns and social media through platforms like LinkedIn and HubSpot. Messaging was tailored to both government and industry audiences, with a focus on clearly communicating the value of participation and driving qualified engagement.
Design Collaboration
I collaborated on the visual design of each event, contributing to graphics and overall presentation to ensure consistency with the narrative and tone of VERTEX. This included aligning visual elements with messaging so the experience felt cohesive across digital and in-person touchpoints.
Day-of Execution and Operations
I managed on-site execution across both days of each event, ensuring that programming ran smoothly and stayed aligned to the intended experience. This included coordinating speakers in real time, managing transitions between sessions, and addressing issues as they arose.
I also developed MC talking points to maintain consistency in messaging throughout the event and supported storyboarding for photography to ensure key moments were captured intentionally.
Given the nature of the environment, I worked closely with stakeholders to manage security reviews and approvals for any publicly released information.
